Communities with Seminar Series

You know your community best, so you can determine whether parents are more likely to invest in a preventive strength-building model like the 7 C’s or a topic-driven series that focuses on risks. Parents of adolescents never tire of topical subjects related to risk—sex, drugs, bullying, eating disorders, driving safety—because these are the areas that generate so much parental anxiety. It may take a philosophical shift to have the ongoing focus be strength-based prevention. It will involve convincing opinion leaders that one of the best ways to address risk is by building strengths.

See below for strategies to incorporate resilience into your parent education. One set of strategies is for communities that wish to focus on building strength, the other is for communities that intend to primarily focus on risk prevention.
